Nearly 200 people launched kayaks, canoes, inflatable rafts and even paddleboards Saturday from the banks of the Sacramento River for the first Sundial Splash.
Andy and Bernadette Ooley were among the kayakers, and they chronicled their adventure with video, which they share with us today.
Andy and Bernadette Ooley joined scores of other boaters who participated in the first Sundial Splash Saturday.
Andy said the Sundial Splash was a great opportunity to try the river under safe conditions.
“They gave us an excellent safety briefing and there were authorities all along the trip to watch over us” he said. “They really did an outstanding job making this happen.”
Andy Ooley is a Redding native and a musician. He and his wife Bernie enjoy traversing the north state hiking, biking, kayaking and snowshoeing.
