On 06/25/2014 at 1933 hours, Deputies were dispatched to an address at a trailer park in Cottonwood for a just reported stabbing.
Callers reported seeing two victims with visual wounds inside the trailer park. Upon arriving at scene, Deputies attempted to make contact with the suspect who had barricaded himself inside a trailer.
After an approximate two hour standoff the subject exited the trailer and was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment and was medically cleared before being booked in Shasta County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon. Both victims were transported to Mercy Hospital and treated for their injuries.
The suspect in the case has been identified as Richard Ryan Compton, age 35. Compton was booked on the above listed charges.
