Special Presentation: “Solitary Confinement and California Prison Updates” with Guest speaker Laura Magnani

The Prison Reform Committee of the First United Methodist Church and the Redding Friends Meeting is honored to offer this presentation by special guest Laura Magnani.

Ms. Magnani is the Healing Justice Program Director of the American Friends Service Committee. She works out of the West Regional Office in San Francisco and is the author of America’s First Penitentiary: A 200-Year-Old Failure and co-author of Beyond Prisons. Laura has been working on prison reform for the past 30 years. She meets with prisoners, state officials, and activist groups to create positive change. Ms. Magnani will address the issue of solitary confinement in prisons and give an update on other current events in our prisons.
