Whitmore Skeletal Remains Belonged to Missing Anderson Woman

On February 3, 2014, horseback riders in the area of Whitmore located the skeletal remains of what they believed to be a human being. Detectives from the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded and confirmed the bones were human.

The remains were collected by the coroner’s office pending identification. A forensic odontologist studied the dental characteristics of the deceased and was able to make an identification to Gale Fisher, a reported missing person of the City of Anderson.

Fisher was reported as a missing person to the Anderson Police Department on 10/24/2012. Anderson Police followed up on several leads in attempt to locate her. Fisher was a transient and was known to disappear and not have contact with her relatives for several weeks to months at a time. Her next of kin have been notified and have remained in contact with detectives investigating her disappearance.

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit will continue to investigate this case. At this time there is no evidence of foul play in her death. The final cause of her death is pending further forensic studies and will be released at a later date.
