One SAFE Place announced that it recently received a $5,000 grant to its Peterson House Children’s Too! program from the TJX Foundation with help from the local TJ Maxx Store.
We are tremendously grateful for the support that TJ Maxx and the TJX Foundation have given One SAFE Place,” said Jean King, the Executive Director of One SAFE Place.
The Peterson House Children Too! Program is designed to provide age specific care and counsel to the over 130 abused children who enter OSP’s emergency shelter each year. The program helps children cope, heal and recognize that abuse is not their fault and utilizes proven methods of care to help break generational abuse cycles in children. In addition, the Children Too! Program also aids in rebuilding damaged parent-child relationships by working with families to develop positive communication techniques by utilizing the nationally recognized “Triple P” parenting program and by helping parents understand the effects of domestic violence on children. During the last fiscal year, Peterson House Children’s Too! Program served 184 children.
This is much needed funding for a much needed program,” added King.
This is not the first time TJ Maxx and the TJX Foundation have assisted One SAFE Place. The local TJ Maxx store often donates clothing and other items to One SAFE Place and recommended OSP to the Foundation for the larger cash grant. OSP also received $5,000 in 2012 from the foundation for its emergency shelter.
