The Redding Colt 45s have added 3 players from Michigan State Univ of the Big 10 Conference. The Colt 45s formerly of the Far West League are now playing as an Independent Collegiate Summer team in 2014.
Nolan Dill – RHP- 6’6/235 Freshman- Nolan is a big strong RHP out of Bowling Green, OH and played at Bowling Green HS. Dill possesses a good FB that sits from 87-89mph and compliments it with a good CB and CH.
Hunter Smith – OF- 6’4/210 L/R Sophmore- Smith is a power hitting left-handed stick with good speed that fits your typical corner outfield type. A product of Perrysburg, OH where he helped lead his Perrysburg HS team to a Ohio State Division 1 runner-up finish. With his power from the left side he looks to make an impact in the Spartans line-up this Spring.
Justin Hovis -INF- 6’1/200 R/R Sophmore- Hovis is the returning starting 3B for MSU. Starting 37 games as a true freshman in 2013, Justin looks to have breakout season for Coach Boss and the Spartans. Hovis will be returning to Redding where he played last summer with the 45s. Justin was voted Defensive Player of Year of the Far West League and was coming alive at the plate before suffering a knee injury that cut his summer short. Baseball America ranked Hovis #10 best prospect in the Far West League. Perfect Game ranked him #14 best prospect in the Far West League.
The Colt 45s GM/Field Manager is Former MLB OF Rick Bosetti. Bosetti is also the Mayor of Redding, CA. Redding will play a 52 game schedule featuring 42 Home Nights at Historic Tiger Field!!! Welcome to Redding boys!!!!
