SYNOPSIS: On Monday, 06/17/13 at 1538 hours, a stabbing was reported at Scheer Drive in Redding. Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and upon arrival found two subjects with visible injuries. The victim, Gregory Dunn, was lying in the driveway and appeared to have been stabbed multiple times.
The suspect, Jason Dunn, was standing in the driveway and his injuries consisted of both of his hands being severed off at his wrists. Gregory is Jason’s father. Jason Dunn and Gregory Dunn were both transported to the hospital for treatment. Initial statements obtained on scene indicated that Jason had stabbed Gregory during a verbal altercation.
It was later learned through interviews by Shasta County Sheriff Detectives that Jason reportedly stabbed Gregory with a pair of scissors multiple times. After Jason stabbed Gregory, Jason severed his own hands off with a radial arm type saw inside the shop.
Jason and Gregory are still hospitalized and being treated for their respective injuries.
The investigation is still on-going and no further information is available at this time as to the circumstances surrounding the incident.
