Local fine furniture maker Thomas Starbuck Stockton Of Montgomery Creek won a pair of awards at the 31st annual “Design in Wood” show at the Del Mar fairgrounds in San Diego County. Design in Wood is an international exhibition of fine woodworking co-sponsored by the San Diego Fine Woodworking Association and the San Diego County Fair.
The “Master Woodworkers” award and a second place in marquetry/veneering furniture category were given for his furniture piece titled Iris Cabinet built from claro walnut, koa, ebony, mother of pearl and ebony.
Thomas is extremely proud of the Master Woodworkers award as his piece was chosen from about 400 pieces.
The fair runs through the July 4th holiday.
