Join the Bike Commute Challenge

Now is a great time to register for the 2013 Bike Commute Challenge! Due to popular demand, this year’s Challenge has been expanded to two weeks. Participants will be entered into a free drawing each day they ride a bicycle to work, school, errands and other destinations from May 5 to 18! It’s that simple.

Team captains who register by April 23rd with at least 5 team members will receive a Team Captain Kit to help their worksite or school based team succeed. One worksite will be named “Bicycle Friendly Employer of the Year” and the top performing team will receive a free bike rack, along with bragging rights.

In addition to the Challenge, the Bike Month Calendar features a variety of great events for all ages and riding styles. This year will include 40 opportunities to ‘fuel up’ at an Energizer Station (seven businesses will offer free refreshments for people stopping by on their bicycle), the Shasta Wheelmen will offer valet bicycle parking and a free breakfast ticket to the first 150 bicyclists to arrive wearing a helmet at the Rodeo Week Pancake Breakfast (Placer/Market) on May 17. Nearly a dozen schools will offer Bike to School Day events on May 8. Author Joe Kurmaskie, the Metal Cowboy, will kick off Bike Month with school assemblies, an evening public performance and a Family Fun Ride. Details about these and many more events are available on the Bike Month calendar at
