A 40-acre prescribed burn is planned today above the community of Old Shasta beginning approximately 11 a.m. and end approximately 5 p.m.
The project area is less than half the size of the unit burned this past February and should not appear as impressive with regard to smoke production.
Though winds are relatively strong in the valley, conditions in the project area are singnificantly less than those on the valley floor. Most smoke should be transported south and west away from heavily populated sections of the region.
