Hollywood Film Premiere To Take Place At Redding’s Cascade Theatre

Jefferson Public Radio and the Cascade Theatre are pleased to announce that Redding has been selected as one of the handful of cities nationwide to host the premiere of the new feature film Lincoln, directed by Steven Spielberg.  The not-for-profit performing arts venue and public radio network are teaming up with Dreamworks and Amblin Entertainment to present a one-time showing of Lincoln on Sunday, November 11th, 2012 at 7pm. The film will be released in movie theatres nationwide the following week.

The film’s producer, Kathleen Kennedy, will attend the Redding premiere, and participate in a Q&A session following the screening. JPR’s Geoffrey Riley, host of the Jefferson Exchange, will pose the questions, which may be submitted in advance at the event or directly from the show listing page on the Cascade Theatre website. Kennedy, who originally hails from Redding, produced the film along with her husband Frank Marshall. Many Kennedy-produced films have become blockbusters, such as E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark, Schindler’s List and Jurassic Park.

Oscar buzz is already generating for Lincoln, a biopic starring 2-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis and cast including Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The drama focuses on the tumultuous final months of the nation’s 16th president and his struggle to unite the country, end civil war and abolish slavery. The film will be shown in 35mm on the movie screen of the restored 1935 art deco movie house.

The premiere is free of charge and includes popcorn & soda, although tickets must be obtained in advance and will be limited to 4 per person.

Doors will open at 6:30pm. A reception with Ms. Kennedy will follow the Q&A at 9:40pm in the theatre lobby. Tickets are available at the Cascade Theatre Box Office at 1733 Market Street, by phone at (530) 243-8877 or directly through the Cascade Theatre website at www.cascadetheatre.org.
