On July 6th, 2012 at approximately 11:51 P.M., officers from the Redding Police Department responded to Kmart at 2685 Hilltop Drive in Redding, regarding a burglary in progress. Officers arrived and found the front glass door on the west side of the business smashed.
As officers were establishing a perimeter around the business, the suspect exited the west side of the business and started to flee. The suspect was given commands to stop warned that a police K9 was about to be deployed. The suspect saw the K9 and immediately surrendered.
The suspect was identified as 36 year old Todd Richard Kolesar, originally of Phoenix, Arizona, but now a transient in the Redding area. Kolesar was found to be in possession of approximately $160.00 in merchandise stolen from Kmart.
Kolesar was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail for burglary and possession of stolen property. His bail is currently set at $10,000.00.
