Scott Valley Bank Awards Business Scholarship to Nicole Carlson, Shasta High Grad

Karen Jones, Scott Valley Bank Redding branch services manager, recently presented the award for the bank’s annual business scholarship to Shasta College for 2012.  The full scholarship was awarded to Nicole Carlson, a senior at Shasta High School.

Each spring, one student from the Shasta College attendance area is awarded the Scott Valley Bank business scholarship.  The program funds tuition, fees, and books for 2 years of study in business or finance at Shasta College.  The recipient’s demonstrated interest in business and finance through interests and academics, along with the business philosophy he or she has developed, are the primary criteria for consideration, along with general academic proficiency.

Miss Carlson has earned an outstanding grade point average, served as peer tutor, and participated in the Shasta Peer Mentoring Program.  Nicole demonstrated a disciplined and caring approach to her work and is thought of as highly trustworthy for her handing of sensitive information.  Her stated goal at this time is to become an accountant.
High school students throughout the region with an interest in business or finance, and who plan to begin their college career at Shasta College, should ask their business teacher or school scholarship coordinator about this scholarship opportunity.  Scholarship applications are available at local high schools and at any office of Scott Valley Bank beginning in February of each year.  The application period is each February through April.
