Redding Police Catch Alleged Car Thief 6 Days After Chase

On Saturday, August 20, 2011, officers from the Redding Police Department were involved in a pursuit of a stolen 1990 Honda Accord that ended on Alrose Lane in the City of Redding with the driver fleeing on foot (click here to read the original post). The suspect driver was later identified as Tyler Schweizer, 26 years of Redding.

On Friday, August 26, 2011, at 11:56 p.m., officers developed information that Schweizer was hiding inside of an apartment at 1417 Orange Avenue in the City of Redding. Officers confirmed Schweizer was inside the apartment and he refused to surrender to officers, barricading himself inside a bedroom. Redding Police Canine Canon was sent into the apartment and found Schweitzer hiding in a back bedroom between a mattress and box spring. He was apprehended by canine Canon and taken into custody by officers.

Schweizer was booked into Shasta County Jail on suspicion of felony evading, felony assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of narcotics for sale and outstanding warrants.
