Redding Cabbie Stabbed by 2 Attackers

On August 2, 2011 at 1:17 a.m., Mario Rodriguez, 59, of Redding, called 911 and reported he was in the parking lot of Mercy Medical Center. Rodriguez said he was bleeding and needed help.

Officers arrived and Rodriguez had already gone into the emergency room for treatment. It was determined Rodriguez had been stabbed several times and beaten with an unknown weapon. He was in stable condition at the time of this press release.

Rodriguez told officers he was employed by Redding Yellow Cab. He said he was in the area of Sheridan Drive and Court Street to pick up a customer. While at the location, he was jumped by two unknown males. He could not provide any suspect description other than two males.

Officer located a crime scene in the area of Sheridan Drive and Court Street. The area was checked and no suspects were located.
