State Route 44 in Redding at Interstate 5 will be CLOSED at night, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. starting Monday, July 25th, and continuing through Friday, July 29th.
The closure will affect both eastbound and westbound directions of travel, alternating sides. Detours will be in place and clearly marked.
The closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of concrete girders (beams) on the new section of bridge, which is part of the Central Redding Interchange project.
This $5.9 million project is under construction and will be completed in the summer of 2012. The project, being constructed by Tullis, Inc. of Redding, will add an additional lane in the southbound direction from .5 miles north of Cypress Avenue to the Hilltop Drive overcrossing, which will allow for through traffic to be separated from ramp weaving movements through the interchange.
