Blasts heard in Redding early today (July 12) are fireworks, a Redding police dispatcher said around 12:15 a.m.
The police station has received numerous reports from residents concerned about the repeated, gunshot-like sounds heard around midnight, she said, but a sergeant in the area has confirmed that the noise is someone setting off fireworks.
Fireworks are illegal in Redding and anywhere in Shasta County.
