Jakob Skot Peterson was taken into custody and charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 (288(A) PC), child stealing (278 PC), and contributing to the deliquency of a minor (272(A)(1) PC). He is being held at the Tehama County Jail in lieu of $103,000 bail.
If convicted Peterson could face up to 13 years in prison and would have to register as a sex offender.
The teen was first reported missing Friday, July 1, after the girl’s father discovered her bed had been stuffed to look like she was sleeping. Peterson’s van was seen nearby and initial reports indicated she left voluntarily.
