Authorities Connect Redding Prisoner to String of Whiskeytown Burglaries

There have been a series of car break-ins with theft of valuables at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area this spring and summer. Twenty thefts to date have been reported.

On Sunday June 26, 2011, suspect Jason Allen Corbin age 38, was arrested by Redding Police Officers during a traffic stop for suspicion of possession of burglary tools, receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine and driving on a suspended license. During a follow up investigation Corbin was identified as a suspect in multiple burglaries at Whiskeytown based on evidence located in his vehicle during arrest. Corbin was subsequently interviewed by Whiskeytown Law Enforcement Rangers and confessed to committing three vehicle burglaries at Whiskeytown NRA. Corbin is currently facing multiple charges of offenses listed above as well as vehicle burglary.

Visitors to Whiskeytown and other natural areas can easily prevent theft from your vehicle by leaving no valuables and no visible personal property while you are away from your vehicle recreating. Please come and enjoy your public lands through recreation but prevent theft by leaving no valuables in your vehicle.
