Early detection is critical in treating breast cancer.  The Mercy Regional Cancer Center will host a free breast cancer screening for qualifying women 40 years of age and older who meet the eligibility requirements for the Every Woman Counts – Breast Cancer Early Detection Program.  The screening will take place on Thursday, July 28, 2011.

Breast cancer screening involves three components:

  • Mammogram – an X-ray of your breasts can be a powerful way to detect breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage.
  • Breast Self Examination Education – provided by a Mercy oncology nurse.
  • Clinical Breast Examination – a physician or affiliated health care provider will conduct the examination.

To find out if you qualify for this state-funded program, please call Mercy Medical Center Redding at (530) 24-MERCY (246-3729).  Appointments are limited and women must pre-register no later than June 24, 2011.
