Ask North State residents why they like living here and chances are you’ll hear a lot about the natural beauty and proximity to recreation. That would be my No. 1 answer if polled, and the north coast redwoods are on my list of top natural attractions.
I usually enjoy a view of the great trees from the gorund, but in this week’s Get Outta Town, I offer a unique way to experience the Redwoods. It’s not for the meek (or the weak of stomach), but sounds like a great way to feed your inner adrenaline junky. Get Outta Town this weekend to Humboldt County for a bird’s-eye view of Arcata Redwoods Park – 120 feet in the air.
From the North Coast Adventure Center site: Join North Coast Adventure Centers for a Canopy Tour 70-120 feet up in the redwoods of Arcata’s Redwood Park. You will start on the ground, learning terms and techniques needed to safely maneuver through the canopy. After the training is completed the next challenge will be to ascend up into the redwoods and ride a series of ziplines through the canopy. Our trained guides will help you step out of your comfort zone and experience the beauty of the redwood canopy. Climbing, zipping, and rappelling through the trees will help you appreciate their power and beauty.
