Where: 2157 Victor Ave. in Redding
People living with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, lung disease, chronic pain and others are invited to attend a free workshop series that will assist them in taking control of their health. The Healthier Living program is a six-week workshop that helps participants manage their chronic condition, communicate better with their doctors, family members and friends, lessen frustration, learn how to relax and manage stress, and fight fatigue and pain. Redding Christian Fellowship will be hosting the workshop every Thursday.
The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP), referred to in Shasta County as Healthier Living, is a Stanford University evidence-based program where people learn how to develop personal health goals and problem-solving techniques to overcome barriers to achieving those goals. A previous workshop participant stated “I enjoyed the workshop very much. It was interesting to see the transformation in some of the participants from depressed individuals to positive individuals.”
The workshops are led by facilitators who either have a chronic condition or care for someone with a chronic condition. To register for these FREE workshops, call 229-8431 or register on-line at www.cahealthierliving.org/shasta.html.
