What: Come meet the authors of the book “Saving Li’l Smokey”
When: Sept. 18, 1 to 4 p.m.
Where: Turtle Bay Visitor Center
Saving Li’l Smokey details the exciting rescue of a tiny orphaned black bear cub. The eight-pound cub was separated from his mother during the historic 2008 lightning-triggered forest fires in Northern California. The story is based on forester and firefighter Adam Deem’s firsthand account of the amazing encounter and its aftermath. Illustrator of the book, Ryan Lamb, will also be on hand. Presentation is at 1 p.m. with book signing to follow.
