Shasta Memory Bank 5.08.10

Rose Leslie with her children, c. 1921. Though Rose worked hard as a paid housekeeper and in keeping up with her own home, she always made sure she spent time with her children taking hikes and swimming in the local swimming holes. Rose didn’t learn to swim until her forties but she managed to accomplish what few of us could do today – she swam across the Sacramento River and back near the Diestelhorst Bridge while in her fifties!
