First Friday in RB features Dada Demo, Poetry, Music

MUSIC – ART – POETRY

When: Friday, April 2, 5 to 8 p.m.

Where: Red Bluff Art Gallery, 601 Walnut St., 530-529-1332

What: Red Bluff’s First Friday Artists’ Reception and Exhibit Opening for the Annual Abstract & Dada Exhibit; “Dead Crow Comes Home,” the abstract art of Reeba Barrows; the Wit & Whimsy of Jay Murphy in the Window Gallery; and “Self-Portraits” by Laurie Search in the Cube.

The reception will also feature live music by Grammy nominee Ira Walker and a poetry reading that features poetry inspired by the art of Sara G. Umemoto.

Abstract & Dada Group Open Exhibit

John Stewart – Abstract Painting

In the Main Hall, the feature works will fall into the category of Abstract and Dada Art.

If you don’t know what “Dada Art” is, be prepared to visit Bruce Ross’s “Frozen Mower” piece. Now, that’s (Dada) Art!

A LIVE DEMONSTRATION by John Stewart and Phil Dynan will take place around 7 pm. The two artists will create an original abstract painting on the spot.

About 20 other artists will have work in the Abstract Exhibit.

Live Music

Featured this First Friday (April 2) : Live music by recent nominee for a Grammy as producer, singer/songwriter, Ira Walker. Check out his unique style of Blues, Rock, & Southern Soul. Ira’s Latest CD’s will be available in the Gallery.
Poetry Reading

Poetry based on Digital Imagery. There will be a live Poetry Reading at 6:15 – 7 PM in the stage area.

Digital Image by Sara G. Umemoto. The poetry is the product of the Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop held March 27th at the Gallery. It features poetry inspired by the digital imagery of Sara G. Umemoto.

The workshop and reading are conducted by Professor Rob Davidson of CSU, Chico.

Jay’s new works continue for two more weeks in the Window Gallery.

These creative paintings and sculptures have been selling and we are extending Jay’s exhibit until April 16th.
