Young authors and illustrators are encouraged to take pen in hand and let their imaginations soar by taking part in the PBS Kids Go! Writers Contest.
Formerly known as the Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest, the fun-filled competition is open to children in kindergarten through the third grade. Each child may submit one original illustrated story. Prizes, donated by north state businesses, will be awarded in each grade category and each child who enters will receive a Certificate of Achievement.
All of the top winners will be invited to an awards ceremony on May 8. Winners also will be provided a tour of the KIXE studio and will be included in an on-air promotional spot. Our local Grand Prize winner will win a pair of tickets and be the featured author at KIXE’s Annual Mother & Daughter Tea Party on Sunday, May 2. The first-place winners from each grade level will advance to a national competition and have a chance to win some fabulous prizes and be featured on the PBS Kids’ Website, www.pbskids.org/read
The contest deadline is March 30. All entries must be postmarked or received by then. Entries should be addressed to KIXE PBS Kids Go Writing Contest, attention: Dawn Suttmoeller, 603 N. Market St., Redding, CA 96003.
