OK, Greg Pate and I got tired of hearing how much all of you missed The Flying Penguin. So, to satisfy both of you, we’ve (well, Greg) put together a little book of some of the best bits from the first seven issues of Redding’s own little alternative paper. And, to make matters worse, we will be foisting them on the public at Saturday’s Authors Fair at the Mt. Shasta Mall. Both Greg and I will be there to regale you with wild tales of the 1990s and to explain why a certain newspaper took exception to our annual Retchid Penlight parody issue. (I guess I’ve been pissing those guys off for years.)
There were a lot of talented and wonderful contributors to The Penguin (just like on A News Cafe Dot Com) but you won’t see any of their work in The Flying Penguin Scrapbook. It’s all stuff Greg and I did. There are columns (Dr. Adam Baum, Fanny Flanders), fake ads, some newspaper parody and the ever-popular Personals. There’s even a cartoon or two. Stop by and say hello, and for the love of all that is holy, buy a book! They’re stapled and everything.
