MLK Event Honors Isaac Lowe

Saturday was a special day for Isaac Lowe – she was honored and recognized at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center’s Black History month event. Monday, A News Cafe will feature a story about Lowe that includes my video-taped conversation with her inside her home, filmed and produced by Bob Belongie of Belongie Entertainment Enterprises in Redding. (Keep reading to see a YouTube preview.)

Lowe is an 87-year-old Redding woman who worked her entire life to advance civil rights.  She’s renowned throughout Shasta County for her tenacity, vision and unwillingness to forget her mission, whether it was helping build MLK Jr. Center, or being active in the NAACP, or showing up for more than 13 years straight at the Redding City Council to ask the city to recognize Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday with a holiday.
