REDDING – Forest management, water issues, health care and the nation’s economic crisis are expected to be discussed Tuesday when 2nd District Congressional candidates Wally Herger and Jeff Morris meet in the KIXE studio for a debate.
The 60-minute debate will be broadcast live beginning at 8 p.m. on KIXE and simulcast on Northstate Public Radio station KCHO/KFPR (91.7 FM in Chico and 88.9 FM in Redding).
Congressman Herger, R-Rio Oso, is seeking his 12th consecutive term and is being challenged by Morris, a Democrat and a Trinity County native serving on the Trinity County Board of Supervisors.
Lorraine Dechter, KCHO/KFPR’s morning host, will serve as moderator. Questions to both candidates will be posed by Bruce Ross, opinion-page editor of the Redding Record Searchlight, and Mike Mangas, a news anchor with KRCR Channel 7.
Each candidate will be allowed two minutes to answer each question, with an additional minute each for a rebuttal and a second minute to answer any follow-up questions.
