(Candidates’ statements are unaltered and published exactly as submitted.)
I am Dan Flynn, your Assistant District Attorney. I have a proven record of public safety and dedication to Shasta County. I am endorsed by Sheriff Tom Bosenko, Retired Sheriff Jim Pope, District Attorney Jerry Benito, Anderson Police Officers Association, Redding Peace Officers Association, Shasta County Deputy Sheriffs Association and Shasta County Prosecutors Association, all of whom have a current stake in the safety of our citizens.
EXPERIENCE THAT COUNTS:
I work in and with our courts and other county agencies daily. I know what resources are available. I have helped develop alternative sentencing for lesser offenders, because I know who needs to go to prison and who can benefit from alternatives. This knowledge will be critical in light of our lack of jail space.
I have been a civil litigator. I am endorsed by the following civil firms and attorneys who know that I have the courtroom skill to be the best candidate: Barr & Mudford: Reiner, Simpson & Slaughter; Stewart Altemus, Evan Delgado, Marie & Beasley, Tim Nisson, Tammy Wood and others. These firms and lawyers are in the courts, and know what it takes to make a good trial judge.
I have been an educator. I taught students to be trial lawyers as a Professor of Law. I taught future police officers about gangs as a professor in the Criminal Justice Department at California State University, Bakersfield.
I am active in our community, and dedicate time to Shasta County youth. I am on the Board of the Youth Violence Prevention Council of Shasta County, member of and on the Board of Redding East Rotary – Home of the Ducky Derby, Mock Trial Coach and Little League Coach. I have also volunteered my time to the Salvation Army.
