Food for Thought is a little more than two months old, and like any new baby, it requires constant attention, feeding, changing and holding, all of which takes time. Lots of it.
FFT is a wonderful, happy, interesting and entertaining baby. I fall more in love with it every day. It’s hard to remember life without it.
What an appetitie, and what an active baby! It goes through growth spurts like nobody’s business. Sunday we dressed little FFTÂ in its third total wardrobe change since its birth in November.Â
But talk about bad timing. Leading to Food for Thought’s current, major weekend change, we spent many nights working until the wee hours of the morning getting FFT all dolled up for your visit.Â
But personal stuff, unrelated to FFT, demanded time, too.Â
My twin and I left town for a few days to help a younger sister settle into her new home. Our return drive home Friday was one of the worst traveling days ever: closed rest stops, flooded roads, signs snapped and splintered at their bases, spun-out vehicles, entire towns without power, including Igo, my fair hamlet.
We got by with the grace of a portable generator for nearly six days. Orange extension cords snaked along the floors and delivered power for a few hours a day to the most important things: the fridge, freezer, a lamp, my standing mixer and the well pump.
By then my twin and I were deep into making 250 wedding favors for our nephew’s upcoming ceremony.
Meanwhile, although our power returned, our wireless didn’t (our fault; we didn’t know how to re-boot).
All’s well. I’m back. The power’s back. Wireless is back.
Back to you.
