On September 21st, 2017, at around 5:03 p.m., officers from the Redding Police Department responded to the 3400 block of Odin Court regarding a subject who fired a shot from a rifle toward students playing tennis at Enterprise High School.
The initial information received was that a male at a residence on Odin Court had pointed a rifle out of his rear sliding door and fired a single shot. This residence backs up to the tennis courts at the high school. There were several students and parents in the area of the tennis courts at this time.
When officers arrived on scene, the area around the tennis courts was evacuated. Officers were able to establish communication with the occupants at the suspect address. The involved male was identified as Timothy Perales, 62 years, of Redding. The investigation revealed that Perales had been attempting to adjust the sights on a BB in his back yard, which prompted the call for service.
Perales was cooperative and was released at the scene. A report will be submitted to the District Attorney’s office for a misdemeanor violation of the Redding Municipal Code, which states that it is unlawful to discharge any firearm, air gun, or spring gun in the city limits (RMC 10.20.120).
