It Was Bound to Happen

Spotted in the Sunday wedding announcements: A lovely young couple who are now married. His name is Kyle. Her name is Kylie.

To make things more confusing, she’ll be using his last name.

We send A News Cafe’s warmest best wishes to newlyweds Kyle and Kylie Guglielmetti.

  • We tasted several very good local wines at the Igo Inn’s housewarming party, and my favorite was a zesty syrah poured by Alger Vineyards & Winery in Manton.  Alger now has a tasting room open on weekends from 12-5 p.m. For more info, click here.
  • Vintner’s Cellars was pouring a nice red under an “Igo Inn” label, and it reminded me to pass along that Vintner’s has started blind tastings on Tuesday nights that look like a great deal. Six wines, light food and a bottle to take home, all for $25. For more info about Vintner’s, click here.
  • Did you see the articles about the new Starbucks opening in Seattle? Nowhere on the building does it say “Starbucks.” They’re calling it 15th Avenue Coffee and Tea. Sleeker interior, different menu. It’s like a corporate test kitchen (and guess who the lab rats are). It’ll be a huge success. You know why? Because they’re serving alcohol, the one thing missing all these years from Starbucks. I already treat Starbucks like a second home office. If they had booze, they’d have to pry me out of there at closing time with the Jaws of Life.
  • Headline of the Day: This came from some spam that supposedly was from eBay, but wasn’t really because I’ve never done any business with eBay. The subject line: You Have Feedback That You Need to Leave. Gee, a fellow could easily take that the wrong way.
