Corner Booth: Books & Music

I had a grand time Saturday at the Friends of the Shasta County Libraries used book sale.

These sales are always fun, but Saturday’s had an extra kick with music provided by members of the California Old-Time Fiddlers Association. I counted 18 musicians, ranging from knee-high grasshoppers to white-haired veterans, playing great old tunes like “Cotton-Eyed Joe” on fiddles, mandolin and guitars. Excellent.

I picked up seven books, including a couple of interesting-looking novels from Italy and Australia. Total cost? Two bucks.

The Friends of the Shasta County Libraries has these sales every other month, and their used-book store inside the library is open daily. For more info, click here.
