The Shasta Chapter of the California Native Plant Society is offering free wildflower identification classes in Redding starting on March 22. Participants will learn to identify wildflowers, shrubs and trees using the plant family method. Families covered will include the pea, parsley, rose, borage, sunflower, lily, mustard and mint families. Each class will include an hour of classroom and a two-hour fieldtrip. The classes are free, but a magnifying glass and a plant ID book are recommended. Classes are limited to 16 participants, and pre-registration is required. Classes will be held in Redding on Saturday March 22 and 29 at 9 am and April 5 at 11 am.
They will be held in the community room at the Holiday Market on Placer St. for those who have reserved a space in advance.
