Wild Wild Westside

p1000590

The Westside Performing Arts Company’s Wild West Variety Show looks like a hoot of good time Saturday night at the Old Shasta Schoolhouse.

I meant to post something on this a couple days ago, but I got lost at the saloon. The good news is there are still tickets available. There likely will be tickets at the door, but calling 515-7151 before Saturday night would be a good idea.

Tickets, which are $25, benefit the upstart performing arts company. You get a lot for your money. There’s a full barbecue dinner, dessert and a big ol’ bunch of entertainment.

The company will perform scenes from “Oklahoma!,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” and “The Music Man,” as well as acting skits (including a piece from Lisa and Bill Collins’ “Foul Play in French Gulch”) and music from the Oak Bottom Boys. There will be a live and silent auction, door prizes, “grandma’s moonshine” and more.

As I mentioned in a previous post, the group includes artistic director (and divine singer) Trish Spinner, and talented folks like Adam Ferris, Kim Norden, Lisa Redden, Dean Williams, Mike Powell, Brian Bisetti and Bill Collins. Spinner said the WPAC has 18 company members right now.

You might recognize actor Bob Koroluck dressed up as a sheriff, and there will be a jail on the premises.

To get to the Old Shasta Schoolhouse from Redding, take Highway 299 west toward Whiskeytown. In Old Shasta just past J’s Market, take a right on French Alley (look for the yellow sign).

Believe me when I say, this is a fun group of folks. If I didn’t have a previous engagement, I’d be there with my six shooters.

Here’s the poster for the event:
