If you sail, you’re probably already registered for the Whiskeytown Lake Regatta Fun Day this weekend, but if you just enjoy watching boat races and being near the water, this weekend is for you, too.
Saturday’s fun begins about noon at Brandy Creek. Watchers, bring your picnics, binoculars, cameras, jackets and umbrellas. Predictions are for 30 percent chance of rain. Check here for the very latest.
Oh, but never mind a little weather. Just look at that sparkling water: Whiskeytown Lake webcam. (Can’t see anything? Dude. You have to wait ’til daylight.)
This weekend is the first of four fun regattas, the last one being on Memorial Day weekend. They are: #1 Feb. 28 / #2 March 28 / #3 April 25 / #4 May 30.
If you want to participate in another one later (or if you’re just want an inside peek at how it goes), here’s the drill:
Sign up here a week ahead so enough boats can be scheduled. Print name and address, and sign waiver.
