Free Tdap Vaccines For Fire Clean-up People

SHASTA COUNTY – To protect people fighting and cleaning up after the local wildfires, Shasta County Public Health is offering free Tdap vaccine. This vaccine protects against tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (whooping cough).

People who are working in the fire-stricken areas may sustain injuries that put them at risk for tetanus infections if their vaccinations are not up to date. The only requirements for people to receive the vaccine for free is that they must live or be working in an affected area, be older than 10 years old and not have had a previous Tdap shot. Vaccinations will be offered at regular immunization clinics until Sept. 28, or until supplies run out.

For clinic dates and times, visit www.shastahhsa.net (click “Health and Safety,” then “Shots”) or call 225-5591.
