Frank Caliendo
I try not to toss the “B” word around too liberally, but in the case of Frank Caliendo it applies. The guy is a brilliant impressionist.
There are still some good seats available to see the comedian at 8 tonight at the Redding Convention Center. If you’re considering a last-minute ticket, you could do worse on a Thursday night in Redding.
Caliendo is all over the place on TV right now and there’s a good reason for that. Just pop onto YouTube for a few minutes and type in his name.
His George Bush and Bill Clinton imitations are incredible, but he’s just as spot-on with an impressive array of others — William Shatner, John Madden, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Charles Barkley and Jack Nicholson. His impression of Robin Williams alone might be worth the $39 ticket price.
From what I’ve seen in clips, he does a nice job of playing it pretty fair and shooting for pure comedy as opposed to demeaning anyone.

Caliendo isn’t the only talented comedian visiting the north state this week.
Drew Hastings will perform at 8 Friday night at Redding’s Cascade Theatre. Tickets are $27 for that show.
Drew Hastings
Hastings uses stories (mostly from his own life) to generate a lot of his laughs. He’s big on irony and self-deprecation, and has the ability to keep an audience totally absorbed in his tales, which are very visual.
It’s two different types of comedians tonight and Friday in Redding, and both are on top of their game.
Considering the economy and tedious election barrage, I’d say tickets to these comedy shows are a lot cheaper than therapy. And you know what they say? Laughter is the best medical insurance. Or something like that.
