SYNOPSIS
On Wednesday, 04/13/11 and in the afternoon hours, an employee with the Elegant Bean Coffee Shop in Cottonwood reported that two subjects who were inside the shop drinking coffee for hours had stolen a jar of money that contained approximately $100.00 to $200.00 dollars. The jar was set up for donations for 3 year old Grady Stepp who had accidently shot himself a couple of months ago.
On Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1430 hours, Deputies received information that the Elegant Bean employee had spotted the two suspects at the Chevron Gas Station in Cottonwood. Deputies responded and contacted both subjects who identified themselves as Michael and Ashley Davis. (Married). A records check revealed that Michael Davis is currently on felony probation for 211PC/Robbery and Ashley Davis came up with a warrant for narcotics. Both subjects admitted to taking the jar of money from the Elegant Bean and spent the money on things like “cigarettes.” Both subjects were arrested for burglary and transported to the Shasta County Jail.
