So, even after surviving another gruelling year with the promise of more grim days ahead, maybe let’s focus on some small moments of brightness; the firm handshake of a sheep farmer with your first coffee of the day, or the curious stare of a doe and her two fawns as they watch you struggle to capture the early morning dappled light on a dirt driveway.
Here’s hoping your dark 2025 is filled with such moments of light.

Note from Doni: Artist and writer Doug Cushman, formerly of Redding, has been sending these annual holiday greetings from his home in Provence, France, to A News Cafe for many years now.
Thank you, Doug. It wouldn’t feel like the holidays without you and your delightful drawings and winter message as 2024 comes to a close and we embark upon 2025 with our fingers crossed and our hearts and minds wide open.
To A News Cafe’s family of readers, advertisers and staff, I wish you all a wonderful holiday season, and hope 2025 is happy, healthy and peaceful for us all.
