Shasta College and Trinity County have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will provide staffing support for the Trinity County Library system, helping maintain the current level of service at library locations in Weaverville and Trinity Center.
Under the agreement, Shasta College librarian Ky Watkins will provide direct support to Trinity County’s library operations. The MOU establishes a cost-sharing arrangement between Shasta College and Trinity County that will help keep Trinity County library locations open to the public and operating at the same level of service provided during the previous fiscal year.
“Trinity County is grateful for Shasta College’s partnership and its commitment to our communities,” said Trent Tuthill Trinity County Administrative Officer. “Our libraries provide an important service to residents of all ages, and this agreement allows us to maintain access to those resources in Weaverville, Hayfork and Trinity Center. This is a great example of two public agencies working together to find a practical solution that directly benefits the people we serve.”
“Shasta College is always looking for ways to collaborate with Trinity County and support students there,” said Shasta College Superintendent/President Frank Nigro. “We are, after all, not just Shasta College, but the Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District.”
Nigro noted that the partnership will benefit both the communities served by the libraries and the approximately 300 Trinity County residents who are currently taking classes at Shasta College.
“Libraries are important community resources, and this partnership gives us another opportunity to work together to serve the people of Trinity County,” Dr. Nigro said.
