ROV to Step Down

Tom Toller announces his intention to step down as the Shasta County Clerk and Registrar of Voters. Mr. Toller’s final day in this position is April 29, 2025. He delivered his letter of resignation to the County Board of Supervisors on March 24, 2025.

His letter reads:

“Gentlemen:
I regret to inform you that I have been struggling with a serious illness for some months
now. Based on the advice of my doctors, it has become clear to me that I cannot both
focus on my health and continue to serve the citizens of Shasta County with vigor and
undivided attention. I, therefore, resign my office as County Clerk and Registrar of
Voters, effective Tuesday, April 29, 2025. My goal in providing five weeks of notice is to
assist in an orderly transition well in advance of the Gubernatorial Primary of June 2026.
Sincerely,
Thomas P. Toller
Clerk/Registrar of Voters”

The Shasta County Clerk office plans to provide additional information regarding this transition at a future date. Currently, our office is focusing on improving election processes and preapring for the next election.

For press inquiries please contact Tom Toller’s Executive Assistant, Shelby Bellinger, at
530-225-5730. We wish to remind the public that Mr. Toller cannot discuss the lawsuit brought by Mrs. Laura Hobbs and Mr. Dan Ladd against him in his capacity as Registrar of Voters; except to clarify that this lawsuit had absolutely no bearing on his decision to resign.
