Due to the current storms impacting our area, portions of Shasta County are seeing an increase in localized flooding. Some of these locations include the Bella Vista and Palo Cedro areas due to rising water on Stillwater Creek and Clough Creek. More rains are forecast to impact Shasta County in the coming days.
The public is urged to limit travel, if possible, and never drive around barriers blocking a flooded road. Just a few inches of water can be enough to sweep a vehicle off the roadway. It is also extremely difficult to tell how deep the water is or if the roadway under water has been impacted. It is NEVER safe to drive or walk into flood waters.
The public is also encouraged to avoid the areas of creeks and rivers during storms as heavy rains can cause water to rise quickly and without warning.
At this time, the following road closures are in effect due to flooding:
– Old 44 Drive east of Stillwater Road
– Boyle Road at Maddelei
