During the June 6, 2024, meeting of the Shasta County Board of Supervisors, the Board voted unanimously to appoint a screening panel to review applications before the interview stage of the recruitment process. This panel will consist of Board Chair Kevin Crye, District 2 Supervisor Tim Garman, and Director of Support Services Monica Fugitt. The screening panel will assess the applications, and a unanimous decision among the three panelists will be required to eliminate any applicant from public interview process before the whole Board.

Additionally, the Board voted unanimously to reschedule the upcoming Board of Supervisors meeting from Tuesday, June 18 to Monday, June 17, 2024. This change will allow the public interview process to proceed without interruption from June 18-19, 2024.

As of June 6, 2024, there are 27 applicants for the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters position. The Board is committed to conducting a thorough and transparent selection process to ensure the appointment of the most qualified individual.

The recruitment process was initiated following the retirement of the currently elected County Clerk/Registrar of Voters on May 4, 2024. The appointed individual will serve the remainder of the term, ending at 12:00 P.M. on January 03, 2027.

All applications are public records, excluding personal identifying information. Interviews are now scheduled to begin on June 18, 2024, and upon completion, the Board will consider the appointment of a successor for the balance of the elected term.
