Shasta County Clerk/Registrar of Voters Application Deadline Approaching

Shasta County is accepting applications for the position of County Clerk/Registrar of Voters until Friday, June 7, 2024.

The County Clerk/Registrar of Voters is an elected office, with a term lasting four years. The currently elected County Clerk/Registrar of Voters has retired from office effective May 4, 2024.The Shasta County Board of Supervisors intends to appoint an individual to complete the remained of the term, which will run through 12:00 P.M. on January 03, 2027.

The Board of Supervisors is required to appoint an individual to complete the elective term of the County Clerk/Registrar of Voters, and to consider the appointment in a public meeting. The Board of Supervisors will determine the selection process.

During the May 7, 2024, meeting of the Board of Supervisors, the Board directed staff to hold an open recruitment for the position. This recruitment process includes accepting applications and conducting public interviews of the applicants.

The Board will discuss during the June 4, 2024, meeting, if they intend to interview every
applicant for this position, or direct staff to preform a screening of applicants prior to interviews to expedite the expedite the process.

All applications submitted will be a matter of public record, except for personal identifying
information (addresses, phone numbers, SSN, etc.). Interviews for the appointment are currently scheduled to begin on June 17, 2024. Upon completion of the interviews, the Board will consider appointment of a successor for the balance of the elected term.
