Cathy Darling Allen, Shasta County Clerk and Registrar of Voters would like to announce that the Secretary of State of California has reviewed the attached Manual Tally Plan for Shasta County for the November 7, 2023 Special Election.
Please also find a letter introducing the Plan to the Shasta County Board of Supervisors. The letter addresses several topics, most notably cost, recruiting issues, possibilities of delay and unforeseen complications.
This Plan and letter are available on our website at https://elections.shastacounty.gov/manual-tally-information/.
We are inviting local voters to attend an Open House where voters will observe and participate in a mock election using the new voting system and manual tally process. The Open House is on October 5th from 1pm to 6pm at 1643 Market St in downtown Redding.
I would like to thank my staff for their hard work and commitment to the voters of Shasta County during this process. They not only created a Manual Tally plan, but also implemented a new voting system, moved locations, and prepared for a special election while ensuring there is a voting system in place for the upcoming election cycle.
We will continue our commitment to serving the voters of Shasta County.
The recall petition for District 1 Supervisor, Kevin Crye, has been certified as sufficient. The certification is scheduled to be presented to the Board of Supervisors on October 3rd, 2023.
