Editor’s note: This was originally two separate press releases. The first ends where the photo is inserted.
On April 25, Kevin Crye stated that the effort to recall him is backed solely by “liberal Democrats who have been planning this recall since before he was elected.” That statement is false.
The effort to recall Supervisor Crye is non-partisan in nature and is backed by District 1 voters registered as Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and No-Party-Preference (NPP). In fact, the 91 proponents of the recall of Supervisor Crye listed on The Notice of lntent (NOI) served on Mr. Crye at the Board of Supervisors meeting on April 25 are a mix of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, NPPs. We call upon Mr. Crye to recant his false claim that the recall effort is backed solely by “liberal Democrats” immediately and apologize for making unfounded assertions to the public.
In addition, the Committee to Recall Kevin Crye (Committee) was formed in response to Supervisor Crye’s initial and continued poor decision-making and bad judgment. In early March, 2023, a small group of citizens began to form what became the “Shasta Citizens for Stable Government.” Based on the gravity of Supervisor Crye’s continued destabilizing actions, the group determined that a recall was absolutely necessary to stop his continued poor decision making which has been completely out of step with his campaign promises. Again, we call upon Mr. Crye to recant his false claim that the recall effort was initiated before he was elected and apologize for making unfounded assertions to the public.
The non-partisan, newly formed “Committee to Recall Kevin Crye” will continue to focus on holding Supervisor Crye accountable for his actions including any future false statements and misrepresentations.

On April 26, 2023, Supervisor Kevin Crye told an Action News Now reporter that the effort to recall him “was really an assault, … on my conservative beliefs, faith, family, country, duty; that’s what this is about.” That statement is reprehensible and patently false.
The effort to recall Supervisor Crye is not based on his conservative beliefs. Rather, it is based on Mr. Crye’s reckless decision-making and poor judgment exhibited during the first four months of his term in office. He has gambled with our vote, wasted millions of our tax dollars, and destabilized and dishonored our community. His actions warrant recall.
The claim that the recall effort is “really an assault … on my faith, family, country and duty” is a falsehood of such magnitude that we demand an immediate retraction of that claim and an apology to the public for spreading such a clearly malicious lie. All of us on the Committee to Recall Kevin Crye and our supporters are proud Americans with our own families, faith, and individual sense of duty. To suggest that we seek to remove him from office because of his particular faith, his family, or the fact that he’s a proud American is not only ridiculous, it’s offensive. Our supporters know better and other District 1 voters will realize that as well.
The non-partisan, newly formed Committee to Recall Kevin Crye will continue to focus on holding Supervisor Crye accountable for his actions including any future false statements and misrepresentations that he may make.
