Any full-time Shasta College students enrolling in classes starting in November will be eligible to receive their first two years of college tuition-free! Previously, the Shasta College Promise Program provided all first-time, full-time students with their first two years of college tuition-free. Now, Shasta College has removed the “first-time” stipulation to help any past students return and complete a degree or certificate. In addition, any currently enrolled Shasta College students not previously eligible under the “first-time” student criteria will also be able to take advantage of the program.
“This update to our successful Shasta College Promise Program is another positive step to helping those most impacted during the last couple of years,” said Dr. Joe Wyse, Superintendent/President at Shasta College. “Coupled with the many financial aid programs made available to students, along with our flexible 8-week compressed schedules for working adults and our robust online class options, attaining a degree or certificate or becoming transfer ready has never been more accessible. Extending the Shasta College Promise Program to any student looking to make a full-time commitment to complete their studies allows us to eliminate one more financial barrier for our students,” said Dr. Wyse.
To qualify for this grant, Shasta College students who are California residents must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application, register for 12 units or more, and have an education plan at the college. Students who already took advantage of the Shasta College Promise and received their first two years tuition-free are not eligible to receive an additional two years under this update. Dual/concurrently enrolled high school students at Shasta College will still not pay tuition for classes and will be eligible for this program upon graduation from high school and completion of a new student orientation. Concurrently enrolled students will still be responsible for paying the Student Health and Campus Center fees, which total $43.50. There are no parking fees for the spring semester. Anyone who has completed a degree or certificate from a postsecondary institution will not be eligible for this program.
