CURRENT SITUATION
• We had 22 new cases on Monday. Twenty had symptoms (one was unknown) and none
are hospitalized. They are:
One girl under age 13
Nine women and six men in their 20s
Three women in their 30s
One woman and two men in their 40s

• We are sorry to have to report three deaths today. They are a woman in her 80s, a man in
his 70s and a man in his 50s.

• At least 85 percent of our positive cases since Friday have been people with symptoms. COVID-19 spreads through respiratory droplets, so people who are coughing or sneezing are more likely to spread it. If you are sick, please do not leave your home, and stay away from anyone you live with until you are symptom-free without medication for 24 hours.

• Shasta County’s worsening numbers threaten to put the county in the red (“substantial”) range after Tuesday’s statewide data update. Our case rate increased from 2.2 to 6.5 daily cases per 100,000 residents, and our positivity rate increased from 2.4 to 4 percent. These numbers are a seven-day average with a seven-day lag (Sept. 13-19). Counties must have numbers in a more restrictive tier for two weeks before they are moved to that tier, so Shasta will remain at orange until at least next week. Learn what a change in tiers would mean at ShastaReady.org – click on “Roadmap to Recovery.”

• Anyone can be tested for COVID-19. Some same-day appointments are available for people with and without symptoms. Go to ShastaReady.org and click on “Get tested” to find out the best option for you.
